03 The Approach

Roadcast deployed dual-facing AI dashcams with Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) across a sample size of 6 vehicles for a 9-day trial period, running concurrently with the existing GPS tracking.

04 The Solution

The DMS tracked instances of mobile phone usage, smoking, drowsiness, and distracted driving. The data was aggregated and analyzed on the Roadcast platform.

The cameras logged 7,109 alerts in just 9 days. Crucially, 94% of these were in-cabin behavioral alerts that standard GPS could never detect. Furthermore, the data showed that 86% of all risky behavior was exhibited by just two specific drivers.

The Takeaway

GPS tells you where a vehicle is, but video telematics tells you what the driver is doing. Targeted driver coaching based on video evidence is the only effective way to mitigate fleet risk.
